DEREK
Director of Strategy and Communications

We noticed him right away, Derek: a slender, cool guy, with doe eyes hidden behind dark glasses, strolling through the magnificent setting of the Marais.

His phlegm mixed with a natural distinction, all imbued with streetwear culture, immediately appealed to us. Everything about him indicated that he was in a Marais mood. In rue Pastourelle, his long silhouette made us want to know more.

Coming to spend a few days in Europe, this New Yorker arrived from Berlin. After a stay in the German capital, it seemed unthinkable to him not to visit Paris and the Marais. It was his first trip to France.

Director of communications and strategy in an artificial intelligence company, “the American in Paris” didn’t miss a beat. Stunned by the beauty of the neighborhood, he appreciated the architecture like the inhabitants – “so stylish,” according to him.

" I love this city ; Besides, I drink way too much wine and coffee. Today is my shopping day: I bought a pair of black shoes from Camper and, from Weekday, a pair of black pants. »

After a photo session, we walked with him and left rue de Bretagne, him going back up rue de Turenne, and heading in the other direction. We turned around one last time: “Enjoy Le Marais!” ”, which was shouted to him from afar. “Yeah, of course,” he replied with a broad smile.

Divine brunch at the foot of Notre-Dame

Divine brunch at the foot of Notre-Dame

Of course, officially, it is not the Marais. But at Son de la Terre, a barge recently moored at the Montebello quay (5th), the 4th arrondissement is in sight. Moreover, this one is incredible: on one side, it is Notre-Dame flooded with sunlight; on the other, the quays, the book sellers, the walkers, the joggers.

Here is an address which gives the measure of the transformation of the Marais. And it's enough to silence the grumpy people whose mantra is: “It was better before…” No, everything was not better “before” in the Marais. Besides, there was no American bar like Saka, which cultivates a form of excellence that can only be found in Japan.
