In a jar or in a cone, sorbet or ice cream, unless you swear by granitas or eskimos, there is something for everyone.

For some there are no seasons for good ice cream. For others, they are synonymous with sun and summer. The offer is also plethoric, to the point that it is often difficult to distinguish between real artisans and sellers of industrial ice cream.

Fortunately, the Marais has some very good addresses. Here are our favorites.

the ice that warms
Pistachio and strawberry ice cream from Pozzetto

“We want to offer a little trip to Italy”, this is Maura's desire with the ice creams of her brand with the sweet name of Pozzetto, which designates these iron containers in which Italian ice cream parlors store their products (pozzetto also refers to the cups in metal in which the ice creams are served). Moreover, they were the first to have installed them in Paris.

Since 2005, the team has been serving authentic gelato with incomparable creaminess with a smile and generosity. At the window counter at 39, rue du roi de Sicile – one of the house's two addresses – it's Abiba who welcomes us with infectious good humor. After choosing from twelve flavors – a tough choice – we are ready to taste some creamy little mountains. From the first bite, the taste confirms the appearance. Ice creams like sorbets coat the palate without saturating it with sugar.

The coffee scent is worthy of an espresso; pistachio and hazelnut are rich and sweet; raspberry or strawberry sorbets make us forget that we are eating ice cream. There are also typically Italian specialties like the irresistible Gianduja (mixture of chocolate and hazelnuts) or the milky Fior di latte.

Maura obtains quality through her know-how but also through the quality of the raw materials. No powdered milk, but fresh pasteurized French milk. No syrup or flavorings, but ripe fruit. As a bonus, Maura concludes with a philosophical reflection: “When we come to eat ice cream, it’s either because we’re happy, or because we need to be happy. » In short, we win every time! And here we are leaving, smiles on our faces and our hearts warmed by an icy dessert.

Ice cream in Paris
as indicated by his name

Ice creams and sorbets from Une glace à Paris

Ice cream in Paris! In four words, it says it all! Born on rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie in 2015, this address has established itself in the Parisian ice cream landscape while becoming a must-see in the Marais. And even beyond, since the house also supplies its frozen desserts to restaurants and palaces in the capital. It must be said that the CVs of its two creators are reassuring. One, Emmanuel Ryon, is “best worker in France” (ice cream parlor category) and world pastry champion; the other, Olivier Ménard, founded the Ferrandi pastry school alongside Pierre Hermé and worked at Harrods, in London, and at the Maison du Chocolat.

In their Marais laboratory, they create high-end ice creams and frozen pastries. From the selection of ingredients, nothing is left to chance. The result is creamy, sober ice creams with bold flavors and, also, elegant sorbets with a high fruit content.

In a jar or cone, you can enjoy vanilla, buckwheat-nougatine ice cream or a strawberry, blackcurrant-mint-cinnamon sorbet or even the astonishing mucilage scent, taken from the white pulp contained in the cocoa fruit (between the bean and the pod) and whose flavor is reminiscent of lychee or annona, this exotic fruit also called apple-cinnamon. We also like the very local geranium ice creams, made from flowers that grow nearby, on the roof of the BHV Marais.

Reÿs
a world tour of flavors
Pitaya (dragon fruit) ice cream from Reÿs

Want a change of scenery? Go and taste an ice cream at Reÿs! For example, here is a one-way ticket to Delhi with a scoop of “Indian Wedding”: a chai spiced ice cream, inspired by kulfi (Indian pistachio ice cream). Unless you are attracted to the Caribbean… In this case, choose coconut sorbet. Thailand tempts you? Immediate boarding for Bangkok with the aptly named Stroll in Bangkok (rice and coconut milk flavor). And the world tour continues with red dragon fruit sorbet, lapsang souchong infusion, Sichuan peppers (China), white dragon peppers (Vietnam) or even the unexpected Tzatziki ice cream which transports us to Greece.

Behind this original brand hides Jean-Pierre Braun, who went to learn the art of “gelato” in Tuscany, from an Italian master ice cream maker. A recent reconversion with a fairytale feel. “In a dream, I saw myself serving ice cream with the certainty that it was my job. Two nights later, a new dream: the word “REŸS” appears and a voice says: “That’s the name of ice cream”. ". Thus, the dream has come true to the greatest pleasure of our wandering taste buds.
Please note: 90% of ice creams do not contain any animal products or by-products. They are suitable for vegan, lactose-free, kosher diets, etc. Ask for advice in store.

The best tattoo parlors in Marais

The best tattoo parlors in Marais

Tattooing, an age-old practice, has long been the prerogative of convicts, dock workers, the underworld and sailors. Although it has become democratized, now affecting all profiles and concerning one in five French people, including 16% women compared to 10% men, it still remains taboo due to its definitive and transgressive nature.

On the Place de la République, a brasserie with Italian accents has just opened, which quickly made people forget the old Pizza Pino.
