Brigadeiros boxes (l.), “Açaí na tigrela” (r.) at Brigadeiros d’Alis

Pinks, greens, whites: behind the counter of this new tea room on rue des Gravilliers, in the Marais, the brigadeiros, lined up in a row, immediately catch the eye. Brigadeiros (brigadiers, in Portuguese) are popular treats in Brazil but little known in France. A lack of notoriety which Brigadeiro d'Alis intends to remedy.

Recipe ? Brigadiers, somewhat comparable to truffles, are made of condensed milk, cocoa and coated with coconut, almond flakes, pistachio, cocoa bean or praline. Crunchy, melting, sweet and a bit regressive. A great classic for family events, they are also enjoyed on Brazilian beaches where street vendors sell them without you needing to move from your deckchair.

Alis Brigadeiros

It was by making them for colleagues that Laeticia, Franco-Brazilian co-creator of the store, introduced them to Vuthean. Seduced by these pretty little spheres, the latter decides to order some for his son. Faced with the success of these preparations, both decided to quit their jobs to set up an online business and, more recently, a store.

The bohemian decoration recalls the atmosphere of the stores in Ipanema, the trendy district of Rio de Janeiro. There we meet Brazilians who have saudade (nostalgia) for the country and Parisians curious to know what the Brazilian Proust madeleine looks like.

Interior of Alis' Brigadeiros tea room

During this tropical getaway in the heart of Paris, we taste other flavors “made in Brazil”, such as the essential and classic pao de queijo (cheese roll in the shape of a gougere), pressed fruit juices minute carioca style or café zinho (a small coffee), or even a coffeedeiro (with condensed milk) accompanied by soft banana bread. We also do ourselves some good with a competitive Acai Bowl, made with acai, this little hypervitamin and antioxidant berry from the Amazon. Brigadeiro d’Alis, it’s tudo bom!

Tattooing, an age-old practice, has long been the prerogative of convicts, dock workers, the underworld and sailors. Although it has become democratized, now affecting all profiles and concerning one in five French people, including 16% women compared to 10% men, it still remains taboo due to its definitive and transgressive nature.

Piccola Mia, the pizzas of the Republic

On the Place de la République, a brasserie with Italian accents has just opened, which quickly made people forget the old Pizza Pino. Welcome to Piccola Mia, the fruit of the joyful encounter between Italian chef Denny Imbroisi, pizza chef Julien Serri and mixologist Matthias Giroud who creates a creative cocktail menu.
