Body Reboot Coaches: Jess and Roumy (left), Individual Coaching (right) – Body Reboot

• What is the Body Reboot method?
It's quite simply "the new posture", explain Mariana Minisan, and Jessica Braud who invented this "gym" implemented as part of their Moving Forward association. It is based on stretching and mobility with the aim of correcting bad postures. “By placing your body well, it becomes your ally, by placing it incorrectly it becomes your enemy,” explains Jessica Braud, aka “Jess”. We work on the spine, so that it is flexible and strong because it is like the mast of a boat: it is the essential element of the body which allows us to hold the rest and move forward! »

“In fact,” adds Mariana Minisan, alias “Roumy”, at the origin of Body Reboot, “our method aims to deprogram bad postures that are too often poorly taught in order to reprogram good ones. The Body Reboot concept demolishes certain myths and beliefs concerning daily or sporting actions practiced during bodybuilding sessions or in everyday life.

Example: we have always heard that you have to stick your chest out to stand up. At Body Reboot, on the contrary, it is prohibited. “It’s heresy anatomically speaking,” continues Jess. Because this gesture further deforms the spinal column, which accentuates the lumbar and cervical hollowing, thus leading to collapse and compression of the discs which causes a lot of back pain. »

“By placing your body well, it becomes your ally, by placing it incorrectly it becomes your enemy”

• Why is it good?
Thanks to a unique postural analysis, this method helps improve tone, mobility, flexibility and, above all, reduce pain. We rebalance the posture in order to avoid compensations and, in doing so, we unblock the painful points in the lower back or in the neck, often favored by a sedentary lifestyle. It is more relevant than fitness where, through ignorance, we sometimes learn to adopt bad investment habits.

“A little different workout to break the routine”

With whom ?
With “Jess”, a great sports coach, always in a good mood, and a former dancer (Latin dance). A state graduate, she is also a yoga teacher, Pilates instructor and sports medicine instructor with a university diploma in “sport & cancer” (Paris XIII) in her pocket. Other courses are provided by the “Jess-Roumy” tandem in the 6e and 16e boroughs.

• How does it happen ?
Everyone arrives a little before ten o'clock (or 11 o'clock for the next class) in gym clothes. Some exercises are done on the floor and the mat is provided. Weights of 1 or 2 kilos are also available. No two courses are the same. As an experienced coach, Jess “feels” the room and plays it intuitively based on the energy that emanates from it. We do not see the time passing.

• When is it?
Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or from 11 a.m. to noon.

• What is the spirit of the place?
The Halle des Blancs Manteaux, in the heart of the Marais, emits good vibrations. Classes take place in one of the two dance rooms on the first floor.

Why do we love?
Thanks to Jess, the atmosphere is very nice. Good humor is in order and the pace is dynamic. No session is like another: it is never repetitive. Above all, the results are there: after about fifteen weeks, the Marais Mood can attest to it.

We tested Ashtanga Yoga with Hawaiian Callie Mahoney

During Ashtanga Yoga sessions with Callie Mahoney, you feel like you're going to the end of the world, somewhere on a distant island. Normal: this former model who has been practicing yoga since a young age herself comes from Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

An extraordinary dance course for All Saints’ Day

Then we dance ? Yes, and not with just anyone! During the All Saints' Day holidays, the Nadine Bommer Dance Academy company takes up residence at the Center de Danse du Marais, where we sway our hips in a thousand ways, always with grace and good humor.

Where to swim in the Marais?

Where to swim in the Marais?

With the summer holidays approaching, what could be better than a few swimming sessions to shape a summer body? Unfortunately, the Marais only has one swimming pool on its territory, that of Saint-Merri, opposite Beaubourg (4th). Fortunately, two pools are not far away…

The Marais Jewish quarter in Paris

From the 13th century, the Marais was home to a Jewish community which remained there until its expulsion in the 14th century. Fleeing poverty and persecution, Jews from Eastern countries and those from Alsace settled there in the 19th century. Around rue des rosiers and Place Saint-Paul renamed Pletz…
