Now is the time for “rooftops”. Less numerous than in New York but increasingly popular in Paris, these magical terraces allow us to see far and escape from everyday life for a cocktail or a sunset. In the Marais and in Paris Center, here are our Top 5 “rooftops”, for an enchanted break away from the noise of the city.
At the top of the “Top”
Bar – restaurant At the top
Opened in 2019 then closed due to Covid, and finally reopened, Au Top keeps its promises, particularly for its breathtaking view, a unique almost 360-degree panorama over a sea of roofs from which the main Parisian monuments protrude: from the library national route to the East, to Beaubourg, via the Panthéon, Notre-Dame and Montparnasse.
While waiting for the official reopening of the Mediterranean restaurant (grilled fish and meats), Jean-Philippe, the boss of La Perle, has entrusted the keys to his rooftop to the creators of JBR agency, an acronym for Jérémy, Rémi and Ben.
Jérémy was a barista in Canada, Ben restructured various businesses and Rémi worked in several bars in the capital. What do these kings of cool have in common? The mixology and the festive atmosphere, all enhanced with a finger of vodka and a slice of orange, with spreads (tarama) from Petrossian. A brilliant cocktail.

The National on (the) top from the National Hotel
The National on (the) top
When the sunny days arrive, the National on (the) top, at the top of the Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers, known for its signature cocktails, doubles up and rises to the terrace, at the top of a Haussmann building. Smaller than “Au Top” previously mentioned, the teak wooden rooftop is as pleasant as the very cozy hotel bar on the ground floor.
The decor ? Rattan seats, white cushions, zinc pots filled with herbs and aromatic plants. We love the signature cocktails created by Oscar Quagliarini and the 360° view. Here, we touch the zinc ocean formed by the roofs of the capital.

The BHV “Perch”
The Perchoir Marais
Since its opening, crowds have come to perch on the roof of the BHV, with a direct view of the Town Hall, the Saint-Jacques Tower, the Seine and, in the distance, the Eiffel Tower. Impressive.
It feels like you're on the Côte d'Azur on this vast terrace where you can take in the intoxicating beauty of Paris. We enjoy platters of charcuterie or cheese, washed down with rosé wine, spicy cocktails or beer. Reopening on June 30.

In Beaubourg, at “Georges”
The George
On its own, the escalator climb to the roof of Beaubourg resembles a cinematic tracking shot. Arriving at Georges (Pompidou, of course!), you have the feeling of being on the deck of a ship.
Beyond the railing, the view looks due west and towards the south. The sky seems immense on this terrace with its mineral and minimalist decor, popular with a Parisian and international clientele. A breath of fresh air.

Due to the work taking place at the Center Pompidou, access to the Georges is at 35 rue Saint-Merri, facing the Stravinsky Fountain.
A little “Shed” on the grand boulevard
At the top of the Hôtel des Grands Boulevards, you don't come for the view but for the rural and quiet atmosphere of this U-shaped terrace.
Sheltered by trellises of green plants, Dorothy Meilichzon has created an atmosphere “like in the countryside”: surrounded by trellises and green plants, this island of greenery and calm is made up of pink and red benches, small tables and the “shed” (hut, in English) which shelters the bar.
The team offers a short menu: six cocktails with or without alcohol. Very cool.
