Adventure is around the corner! And going on a “staycation” is the best way to check it.
So we went on vacation – upscale – a few streets from home, in the Marais, to the Dupond-Smith hotel.
An unusual way to (re)discover the neighborhood from a different angle, to see Paris with the eye of a tourist.
This designer and discreet five-star hotel, with 8 impeccable rooms and suites, is one of the first (after the historic Pavillon de la Reine hotel, Place des Vosges) to have plowed the furrow of luxury in the Marais.
Opened in 2015, but renovated last year, the establishment located at the corner of rue des Guillemites and rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie, near the Point-Virgule theater, stands on four floors, in a small, quiet XNUMXth century building where you immediately feel “at home” but in a luxury version.
The welcome is attentive; the rooms are elegant; the noble materials (marble, wood, thick carpet); the director Betty Brunaud, takes great care of her guests.
Special mention to the super peppy James Jewel suite with its yellow walls, its designer furniture (Ro armchair by Jaime Hayo, Noguchi coffee table, Moon pendant light by Verner Panton). On the walls, Lucian Bor's photos are an antidote to gloom.

After a glass of champagne in the room, we set off on an adventure. Dinner at the nearby Petit Fer à Cheval. Meeting, by chance, with a former American football star passing through Paris. Pride to hear him speak, amazed, of the Marais: “Here, you have managed to preserve all these little shops which were the charm of the East Village and which have disappeared in New York, hats off! »
We parted with these words before wandering around, also amazed by the beauty of the city celebrated in Emily in Paris et An American in Paris.
Finally we returned “home”, to the Dupond-Smith hotel, to slip into the soft bed of this cozy, comfortable and soothing pied-à-terre, thinking of the breakfast that would be served to us in our room the next day . Then we turned off the light. Our vacation at the epicenter of the Marais started off really well.
