Ray, like “ray of sunshine”, for this yellow sign of one hundred square meters with a double entrance. It's the business of two childhood friends, Hadrien, who comes from the events industry, and Valentin, a computer scientist.

This wish to start a business together came true in 2021 instead of a hair products wholesaler. Driven by the desire to eat healthy, the two partners launched into low-cost organic products, to reach a varied clientele. They travel the roads of France to meet small producers. Interested in those who display the origin of products from A to Z.

Result: on the crates, traceability is precise. On the shelves, we find trout from Normandy, cauliflower from Finistère, also groceries, with pickles from the Loire (not from China), creamery with farm cheeses, but also soups, Nyons olive oil at 16 euros 95 per liter.

At the coffee shop, we treat ourselves to a daily special for 9 euros, a salad for 8 euros 50. Good coffee is 2 euros 50.

Miyam
covered fresh produce market

Looks like a rough-hewn cooperative, for this family address on a street corner which opened in 2023. Here, we don't offer avocado or island bananas but local products and 95% organic. Six brands of this type have already flourished in Ile de France, this one being the oldest. Everything is reused in the Romainville anti-waste lab for 1% loss.

For example, less attractive radishes are made into canned pickles. We discover good Italian cheeses here. Buffalo mozzarella at 5 euros 95. But also eggs from Ile de France, sheep's cheese from Perche at 33 euros 10 per kilo.

Note a large section of coffees, Honduras, at 19 euros 95 per kilo, legumes from Ile de France, dried pasta from Italy. A true enchanted market.

The harvest

supermarket and caterer

©LaRécolte – Devanture Beaubourg

This red and blue boutique on a busy thoroughfare has existed for five years. Inside, it's the kingdom of AB products, sold directly from the producer to the distributor, as if you had harvested it yourself. The Beaubourg harvest imports fresh produce from a cooperative in Barcelona.

The brand belongs to the Mulliez family, owner of Auchan, Leroy Merlin, Decathlon. Everything is organic with respect for the environment and animal welfare. For example, we do not negotiate prices with producers and we buy a whole chicken rather than selected pieces, to avoid waste.

The charming asset of the place is the open kitchen, for a gourmet catering space. For takeaway, you have the choice between a veggie dish for 7 euros 90, and a meat dish for 9 euros 90. The chocolate mousse is 2 euros 90. Unsold items are donated to an association.

Organic Terroir
everything organic at the right price
Organic Terroir

In the family of Issam Machach, former executive of a consulting firm, we eat organic. Hence the idea of opening this grocery store in 2021, just after Covid. The strong points of this pocket address (fifty square meters) with its fruit and vegetable stalls on the sidewalk are the quality of the bulk products. Nuts and laundry detergent sold by the liter.

Another asset is the targeted selection of fruits and vegetables sourced from wholesalers or locally produced. The prices are lower than those offered by the big brands, to democratize organic and make it accessible to small budgets. For example, bulk laundry detergent, Etamine, costs 4 euros 50 per liter.

Old-fashioned lemonade, at 3 euros. Organic Spanish avocado is sold at 50 euros each. A small selection of organic wines completes the tempting offering. Later, Issam Machach is considering a take-out restaurant offer. We're looking forward to it.

Good Organic Grocery Store
organic supermarket in the vein of the greats

Good organic grocery store

La Vie Claire has closed. There is still a Naturalia not far from here. For eight years, Bien has held the upper hand, with reduced competition in the organic supermarket sector. Since then, two other Bien addresses have emerged in the 5th and 16th.

There you can find classic grocery products, cleaning products, but also a good fresh section with fruits from France and Spain and vegetables from Carpentras. Without forgetting the vegan products: Try the vegan minced steak at 5 euros 02, the burger with black beans and cashew nuts at 3 euros 50, the polenta at 3 euros 56.

Piccola Mia, the pizzas of the Republic

Piccola Mia, the pizzas of the Republic

On the Place de la République, a brasserie with Italian accents has just opened, which quickly made people forget the old Pizza Pino. Welcome to Piccola Mia, the fruit of the joyful encounter between Italian chef Denny Imbroisi, pizza chef Julien Serri and mixologist Matthias Giroud who creates a creative cocktail menu.

Bel Canto, an evening of singing

Bel Canto, an evening of singing

Pushing the door of Bel Canto is like entering the opera. On the upper quay of the Seine, facing Ile Saint-Louis, Bel Canto is not an ordinary restaurant. Here, we dine but above all, we come to listen to the great classics of lyrical art, performed by... the room staff!

At the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation, a haute couture restaurant

At the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation, a haute couture restaurant

Secret, or discreet, addresses are sometimes the best. This is the case of the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation café-restaurant, in the Marais, very close to the BHV. You enter through a carriage entrance which opens onto a paved courtyard. Without paying attention, we have just entered the kingdom of the brilliant fashion designer who died in 2017 at the age of 82.

The best tattoo parlors in Marais

The best tattoo parlors in Marais

Tattooing, an age-old practice, has long been the prerogative of convicts, dock workers, the underworld and sailors. Although it has become democratized, now affecting all profiles and concerning one in five French people, including 16% women compared to 10% men, it still remains taboo due to its definitive and transgressive nature.
