As the holidays approach, the Marais district becomes a veritable playground for Christmas decoration enthusiasts. From bold baroque to Scandinavian poetry and minimalist elegance, here are three must-visit addresses to make your interiors sparkle.

In the heart of the authentic Marais district, at 22 rue Saint-Paul (75004 Paris), The Male of Effen is the concept store where objects are so well chosen that they make up an impressive collection.

Nico Thibault Francioni, former window dresser at Harrods, the luxury department store in London, and François Mahé, passionate about American and Japanese Christmas, have combined their expertise to create this cabinet of curiosities.
Open daily from 11am to 20pm, it blends chic accessories, leather goods, home decor, fragrances, creative stationery, and plant-based tableware.

From October onwards, the shop transforms into a treasure trove of festive decorations. This year, Christmas takes on a baroque style: dominant colors are teal and classic red. Affordable ornaments start at €6 – fruits, carousels, a rhinestone-encrusted Eiffel Tower (€15), velvet hearts (€21), rhinestone-studded Christmas trees (€24), crystal chandeliers, a glass Paddington, ex-votos…

There are also timeless classics to hang or place here and there: nutcrackers, symbols of Christmas magic, protection, and good luck, in all sizes or as candles. But also hot air balloons, Santa Clauses, Christmas tree-shaped candles, and Santa Claus crowned with gifts. Gifts for small budgets or for Secret Santas.

In this place where Christmas is celebrated with passion, there are even slim artificial Christmas trees (150-240 cm) for compact Parisian interiors. A major innovation: they can be placed on rotating bases to prevent tangles in the fairy lights. What more could you ask for?

Moor
a soothing Scandinavian Christmas

A different atmosphere altogether, this time on Rue de Turenne, where Moor embodies a Scandinavian spirit as a florist combined with a cabinet of curiosities. Morten Oren, decorator and fabric flower designer at SIA, blends Swedish simplicity and authenticity with more flamboyant symbols, even reminiscent of oriental gardens.

In addition to seasonal flowers, artfully mixed with artificial plants and blooms, his shop is a treasure trove of Christmas finds. Like these little fir trees, perfect for placing on a table or mantelpiece (starting at €25), "They're ideal for tiny apartments," argues the owner, who cherishes monochrome decor.

This season, white, gold, silver, and green dominate, mingling with antique statues and seashells. There are also even more sophisticated decorative Christmas trees adorned with silver or gold baubles (49 cm, €129). Elegant wreaths start at €25, including large wreaths of silver baubles.

And a myriad of decorations to hang on the tree: birds of paradise, reindeer, bamboo, penguins, ostriches, a true animal and plant poetry.

We should not forget the (real) fir trees, Christmas wreaths, hellebores (Christmas roses) and amaryllis ready to bloom under their protection of silver, blood red or gold wax, which enhance the waiting.

By chance
Christmas is adorned with purity

Behind the Place des Vosges, on Rue de Birague, Par Hasard is a cabinet of curiosities with intimate proportions. At François M, sobriety reigns supreme, elevating minimalism and classicism for a "quiet luxury" Christmas.

Here, excess is avoided, and refined ornaments are chosen, made from noble materials: wood, glass, metal. Thus, we find heart and star shaped hanging decorations embroidered in velvet, delicate ex-votos, and beaded mistletoe branches with metal stems.

We love the ultra-sophisticated painted glass spheres (15, 25, 20 cm in diameter) priced from €25 to €75; they captivate the eye with their formal perfection. Simplicity doesn't equate to sadness: each piece radiates elegant simplicity, highlighting the essential with refinement.
