When Mathilda Motte discovered mochi, it was love at first sight.

Very quickly this former anorexic, quite suspicious of sweets, became addicted to these small traditional Japanese pastries composed of bean cream in an envelope of sticky rice.

It was during a long stay in the land of the rising sun that the art historian fell in love with this delight with delicate and unique flavors, nourishing but not very sweet, whose elastic and soft texture like baby's skin creates a surprise.

Back in France Mathilda Motte makes the best mochis. For his mother, his friends and his children...

Everyone loves this marvel which takes the opposite approach to classic pastry, arouses new emotions and, what's more, is endowed with fabulous nutritional qualities.

Gluten-free, 100% vegetable and fat-free, mochi only has 86 calories/piece (245 calories per 100g) while a macaroon makes us take 111 calories/piece (445 calories per 100g) and an apple pie almost 411 calories. .

In 2011, Mathilde Motte founded her brand, an artisanal mochi factory and “macaronized” this piece of Japanese pastry.

His genius idea: to vary it by putting not only the usual and anko (red bean) at the heart of the glutinous rice envelope but also chocolate, yuzu, almond, rose, pistachio, hazelnut, bergamot, buckwheat, sesame or frozen...

The Marais boutique/tea room (16 seats) with terracotta colors and giant lampshades opened in March 2020 just before the first lockdown.

In this charming and tiny place you can taste a selection of mochi with a drink or take part in a workshop on making traditional Japanese recipes. Or click & collect during Covid19.
