The “Intimities” exhibition at the Millenn’Art gallery

“Intimités” was born from the collaboration of the Millenn'Art and Artdib galleries who share the common desire to highlight young artistic talents from the emerging scene. Its founders, Annabelle Cohen-Boulakia and Camille Pouyfaucon, are particularly aimed at the market of young collectors and art lovers.

The exhibition was born from the association of the works of two women, Léa Toutain and Laura Tolen, artists and painters both from the Beaux-Arts de Paris. The two women don't know each other, but took drawing lessons with the same fine arts teacher, and it shows! Both bring this touch of sweetness to their composition, almost childish, which creates harmony and brings real coherence to the exhibition.

Drawing their inspiration from photography, the two young artists invite us to contemplate their intimate worlds. Laura, a young Franco-Cameroonian, is in search of her past. In her paintings, she brings together different generations of her family who never knew each other, all in a disenchanted postcolonial landscape.

Léa, for her part, a young French woman, anchors us in her present by making us witness a scene from her daily life. Boredom, sleep and contemplation are the main subjects of reflection for the young artist, who highlights the intimacy of her daily life, and that of others in common and familiar interiors. Her oil on canvas “After sport”, which opens the exhibition, is representative of her work and especially of the distancing she adopts in her work, between an observational gaze and the gentle voyeurism of those around her. .

As for the gallery, Millenn'Art, it is a young structure serving both as a contemporary art gallery, but also as an artistic club exclusively reserved for 20-35 year olds! The Club offers several visits to artists' studios, exhibitions in museums, galleries and fairs. Young members can then discover the behind the scenes of this market which can often prove opaque and elitist for them.

Wanting to address mainly “millennials” and keen to open the doors of the art and culture market to young people, the gallery mainly exhibits the works of young artists who seek to emerge on the international scene.
