When dance is inspired by action painting, a process which dates back to prehistory and which uses the body as material, this gives Endo, a creation of the David Wampach company.
A name which has its sources in endotism, a pictorial movement, led in the 1960s by Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon, which questions the notion of exoticism.
In Endo, created in residence in Japan at the Saison Foundation, choreographer and dancer David Wampach and Tamar Shelef act as brushes or become the artist's hand to offer us a dazzling duo performance.
Under their feet, the scene becomes a canvas and their bodies coated with amalgamated paint produce strong and intense movements.
We think of the moulting of a butterfly on a stage transformed into a playground where humor and vital energy compete.
By taking the crossroads of classical ballet and contemporary dance, this show thrills us and does us good!
