It's a record store for fans of "collector" vinyls, but it's also a coffee shop that looks like a mini lounge – powder pink walls, burgundy armchairs – designed by interior designer Pierre Gonalons. At Rupture, table service is certainly temporarily interrupted due to Covid but we clearly feel that, rue du Vert-Bois (3e), this warm place wants to give the “la”. This artery also has the potential to become the twin of its neighbor, rue Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth which, in a short time, has become one of the trendiest streets in Haut Marais.
When you enter Rupture, you inevitably think of the novel High Fidelity (1995), by Nick Hornby, which tells the story of a London record store manager who spends his time creating his personal "Top 5": the five best A-sides of all time, the five favorite films of his father, the five best pop songs about death, etc.
In this area, there is plenty to do here! The store houses a beautiful collection of 2500 vinyls: jazz, soul, RNB and even rap. The choice ranges from Keith Jarrett to Serge Gainsbourg via John Coltrane, Michael Jackson, RunDMC, Jay-Z or John Lee Hooker. It's eclectic, like the creator of the place Alexandre Sap, a former sound engineer with Taratata who has set up several labels and produced international campaigns (for Hermès, Cartier, Fendi, Dom Pérignon) and worked with many stars (Lou Reed, Phoenix, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga. etc.) before setting his sights on rue du Vert-Bois
Fans of “rarities” will not be disappointed. Here are hidden nuggets, such as this original pressing of the album Mélodie Nelson (Gainsbourg, 1971) at €200, the BOF of The One-Man Orchestra (a film with Louis de Funes) composed by François de Roubaix sold for €500 or even “collector” covers designed by Andy Warhol.
