Crossing the Marais is not like crossing the desert. On the contrary, for its 7th edition, the Les Traversées du Marais festival, from September 3 to 5, offers 47 events, all located in emblematic places, which are as many oases. From the Swedish Institute to the Wallonia-Brussels Center via the European House of Photography (MEP), the Carnavalet museum, Victor Hugo's house or even the MAIF Social club and the Gaîté lyrique, there is something to refresh yourself with to the best source.
Organized by Marais+, this rendez-vous of the start of the school year takes us towards the “Renaissance” – the theme chosen very aptly by the organizers who thus signal a new departure for the festival after confinement.

Corn Social Club
Cultural Exchange Rate, Tania El Khoury – Maïf Social Club – © Ali Beidoun
At the Maif Social Club, the Cultural Exchange Rate, an interactive digital installation by Tania El Khoury. Originally from a border village between Lebanon and Syria whose inhabitants wish to emigrate to Mexico, the Lebanese artist takes us through the history of her family over several generations. This installation places the public in a pro-active role: they must investigate the family history of Tania El Khoury.

Swedish Institute
At the Swedish Institute, we become interested in Scandinavian design by following guided tours of six apartments, where artists and researchers from Sweden are hosted in residence all year round. Renovated in 2019 by designers, these studios give an idea of the strength and beauty of Nordic interiors. Several visits per day over the three days of the festival. Lafayette Anticipations
At Lafayette Anticipations, near the BHV department store, the Galeries Lafayette Contemporary Art Foundation invites us to discover a new and little-known space. Many are unaware that this minimalist space, created by renowned architect Rem Koolhaas, houses a production workshop and a team that regularly hosts its guest artists. It's an opportunity to learn more about this 19-meter-high, ship-like workshop, its silhouette punctuated by aluminum railings. Free admission with online booking.
